Hope a GM pick's this one up.

Over the past few months, I have read many forum posts about the dreaded Lag issue. I run an ISDN modem bonded at 128k, which works fine and I get good connection speeds (sub 120ms) to lengendofmir.net

I have always played the Dragon server with a Wizard and Toaist Character, when the Phoenix server was introduced I thought I would start a Warrior. I have had no lag at all on Phoenix (unless you go in some of the Dungeon's, and only then sometimes).

Whats your point I hear you shout. Well on the same Internet connection I log into Phoenix - no lagg works perfect, I log into Dragon - two steps, stop, two steps, stop.. back into Phoenix - No lag...

My point is that I think the issue is with the server, either the number of users (Phoenix 200-300, Dragon 1000-1500), configuration of the server farms, connection to your internal net, something.... To blame Teleglobe or the customers ISP is not going to get rid of the paying customers concerns about the performance of the game speed.

On another note, I would love to bring my Wizard Character from Dragon to Phoenix (don't mind losing all the items/cash!!!) is there anyway this could be arranged as a one-off.

Thanks for listening to this, by the way I think the game has developed since it was first released as a beta, and all for the better..... And Tricky - not met you in the game yet but ignore the abuse sounds like envy to me...

GM's at least acknowledge that you've read the post

Even if you don't agree or care....

Thanks for your co-operation

Do you experience this problem every time? My thought is the Dragon server was just overloaded (>1800/2000 players online), while on Phoenix we usually play smoother.

Thanks for the reply....

Yes it seams to be when Dragon is overloaded (when +1500 users) that I experience the lagg issue and yes its every time under those conditions.

Please note that this is not a whinge as I dont expect an Internet game to run smooth all the time. It was just that ppl were getting hung up on the flaw's in the Internet and I feel that it could be more to do with the Dragon server than the internet.

Thanks again....

I use ISDN as well, but only single line (bonded dual lines do not give much benefit on Mir). Lag is not directly related to amount of users, as there were only around 600 on yesterday and i was doing the two-step in SV. And in comparison, I'v e played on Dragon during the beta with just over 2000 people on without any lag.

What I have noticed from my regular traceroutes is that up to Teleglobe the responses are well below 50, while upon reaching the first hop on Teleglobe the response usually go over 100 (range 100-140 for low load, 140-190 for heavy load). Also, the second hop on Teleglobe always times out, after that only response times of 130-190.

Although I have twice experienced d/c's from my ISP (which is normally very reliable), I feel that the problems with Teleglobe and the Mir servers themselves should be the main points of investigation. Rebooting regularly might solve some issues (especially if you are running on Windows servers), but looking into programmatic issues might result in a more stable system.

Just a thought: if GM's or internal staff would like more information, I'm willing to tracert on a regular basis. Currently I'm on ISDN, but expecting ADSL soon. Let me know.
