ok you all prolly know of the removing sound to get rid of lag, well i summed this up better for you so you get sound without lag (well most sounds). go to your wav folder and highlight the first 28 sound files and right click and click "cut", now make a new folder named anything and right click in it and click "paste". now you will have no footstep sounds while playing (which is number 1 cause of lag while running). i did this and have no lag now and its not that bad of a loss and can stil hear the enemies nearby, now, if you still have lag during fighting cuz your on a 28.8k connection or lower (pity on your soul) then do the same with wav files 29-31 and you'll have no swinging bashing clunking sounds, hope taht helps.

Some one posted away back about using your RAM to fix your lag somehow but you needed more than 128 and i only have 128. Ill try your idea though........Yes mother, your son is a limey fork flinging cutlery theif......

wtf? i tried this and all its done is get rid of the money sound when u pick up, clicking sounds on icons, drinking potion sound, but the running sound is still there

Hexen,When you selected the *first* 28 files, did you have them in decending alphabetical or sorted by the modified date? in either case the listed files will be different. Or Potter, to do it the long way, double click on the sound file, if it sounds like footsteps, move it to another directory. simple. LugOneYin lvl21 Tao Dragon

ive gotton rid of all the sound and i still get really bad lag. what shld i do. shld i reinstall it and anly remove the wav folders youve told me to remove?i se said the blind man but really the blind man could not see at all. |

the first thing you should do is run a traceroute. (tracert at dos prompt)if your getting about 1000ms ping through bt or teleglobe, then there's not much help for you.
The only real options are getting Cable/ADSL/ISDN. (in that order).
or upgrading your PC. get yourself extra memory, its about £30 for a 256mb DIMM. other than that, your gonna have to put up with it.
Does anyone know the packet size of info sent from the server to the client and vice versa? if its a large packet then it's gonna be slow on my 33.6 modem

OMG U GENIUS - it worked !!! there was some woman who put a prog
up that put sounds into ram or something but it was for ppl who
had loads of RAM only. Anyone know anything about her prog? I thought
it might have been a hacking prog, and is this woman's prog does work

The sound files have been recorded in high bit rate. Whacking someone doesnt need to be in stereo. Cool edit is a nice program to convert all your sound files to mono. Then you can have them all and still play. Like you really need to hear raking cats in stereo right?

People make footsteps. Do mobs ? Imagine a centipeded?

remvoing footsteps removes your AND other peoples footsteps ( see i knew you all wouldnt even care for foot sounds) but mobs dont have foot sounds but they do have growling, oh and my first 28 files were just labled 1-28 maybe cuz i got windows xp.me» for moderator!
