ok last time i posted this people didnt actualy read my post and started jibbering pish about mp3's. OK here goes for a second time to everyone who knows or has done this.

I have heard people say you can lower the quality of thr WAV files mir uses for sounds in to game from stereo to 8 bit something and it tells you were to get the program at mir tavern but i got the program etc and never had the slightest clue so if anyone knows of another program or how to use that program all hlp woul be appreciated.

to all those who want to know why i wanna do this , i want to because it aparently lessens client side lag

Any half decent wave editor will do what you want. Try going to www.download.com and do a search for 'wave edit'.

sound editors , for example Soundforge or Wavelab.

Now Im not at all sure about this , but there is a save option in mediaplayer.
I think you can select the samplerate when you save a file.

But then , a counter question, Why 8 Bit ?? to match the 8 bit graphics? ,,, low memory?

If you have a 16 bit sound and convert it to 8 bit, it will half the file size. If you convert from stereo to mono it will half it again. You could go further depending what fruequency the sound was recorded at and end up with really small but low quality sounds.

Where did you get the info on client side lag and can you explain it any further?

ok some dude posted here sayin it does reduce the lag he says go to mir tavern (sorry cant remember the URL) and go to guides or texts etc and look for how to lessen lag and it tells you there about it and it says it oes lesen lag as most la is caused by client side which i can imagine as think about it i get lag most often in place with lots of sound now think about this , youre in woomatemple 3 taos are healing , warirors slaying thunderbolts coming and like 90 woomas groaning all in stereo bein loaded (well trying to be) at the same time as this hapens. This would cause a slow down but if i have lower quality wav files they shoul be smaller and less time to load etc you get the gist of it anyway.

I figured something like that , However ,it's not only the sounds being loaded when wiz/tao's starts having fun , but the graphical effect also.

I sounds like a solution for low-end machines. with low memory.
but im not going to try it , infact , i think i will try to make my sounds BIGGER. =)

Edit them and add reverb and atmosferical effects.
Like adding a cavern reverb on those zombies.
hmmmm,

It would be great if the Mir team could add support for EAX. =)

I guess this means you can replace the sounds with others as long as theyre identifiable. Hmm... wooma's shouting Doh! Homer style everytime they die.

from my experience id say cool edit pro is by far the best sound editor about, and ive used quite a few since i produce dane tracks

if u cant get hold of that id also say fruityloops (yes u can use it) u sit it to import the sound as a sample, then save it as a lower quality sound file, still, id use cool edit pro if i were u

Well, with a lot of games. They don't all store there sound files as simple wavs or mp3s.
