hey has anyone out there ever ysuccessfully refined a hoocked spear?
i am a lvl 20 mage.. i am just wondering what jewelry to use and also what purity black iron..
i tried it using serpent eye ring and black iron purity 14 and it didn't work :(

Carlos the sword smasher sucks.But Sionide sucks more....... He took his Purifier and Coral Ring in there, with shjtloads of the Black Ore I gave him (1/4mil worth) - even though I requested one or two back. But getting to the point......
He left his Coral Ring on his hand, and it didn't take it, therefore not refining the Sword with anything and wasting all MY Ore, the twat. The Bes there is, the Bes there was and the Bes there ever will be! |

Regarding the initial problem - try using higher purity ore.Many people state p20+, although I've had success with p15... It's still chance, though Out of real life and escapism, I'll choose escapism - it's more fun |

The last time i refinred my hooked spear i simply used 2 pieces of p16 black iron and a charm ring.
Durability went down but do i give a toss? No I'm a wiz so it matters not.
Anyway I have had more success with p16 Black Iron then any higher sheit.
Increase the amount of BI and refine with better jewel, combinations are pretty easy to work out, and taadaa you got yourself a nice punkassbehatch hooked spear.
Now go kill something.

Thats what I thought although it doesn't seem to be quite as easy as that. Here was my first refine attempt: Hooked Spear 16/16
Charm Ring 6/6
BI 1 Ore at 19+ 3 Ores at 16
Result : You're weapon has been crushed. There was definately no other items in my bag etc. Any ideas as to why this failed. I was wondering if its because of the extra dura of the spear - 16. Thoughts?? Duncs

i heard that a small group of mates had worked out the exact formula for an MC 1-5 hooked spear or somthing impressive like that and well mass producing them for sale... i dunno if they have left or not but you could try buying one off them (probably be cheaper than refining X ammount of times to get the same result)Helping The Little Guy Isn't A Choise, Its A Responsability |

Someone else said that he has been able to refine every weapon that he has tried, with his special way, execpt when he tried using a special piece of jewelry, so maybe that is the reason why it failed.I know of many wizards that have done what you have done and it worked fine. Someone also mentioned to me that you should maybe use a piece of jewelry of every type, e.g neck, ring, brace. At the moment I am gathering all these accessories that you get in BC from the mobs and will just throw a bunch of them together and hope for the best.

Probably only cheaper on time don't you agree? When you mine for BI you make money anyway of all the other ore that you get and that can usually pay for the refine, if you are as unlucky as me with getting BI and gold.quote:

I have a spare purifer sword and a old 2/2 dur coral ring. Anyone know if the low dur on the coral would lower my chances on a refine?I also have a dur 24 purifer but dunno If i want to risk it. PlAyAhAtA

I did it like this, purifier d20, skele ring, skele ring, p15+ ores to total purity of 200 -> purifier dc 10-14 d21, I never have succeeded on the second refine... /Lippo |

i dont refine hooked spears (as im a tao) but i do know the formula to getting a extra DC&SC kriss, i dont think the dur will affect the outcome in the end..i do use store bought items so i dont know about ur coral man..give it a go, i dont think ud get much for it cash wise anyway "REMEMBER: no one is listening until you make a mistake!" |

Ok earlier in this thread I put down how i refined it once and its worked everytime.
The second refine involves a max pur of 16 BI nothing above. About 10 pieces, a couple of P15 a charm ring and a convex lens.
You may not have to be so extreme with the convex lens but i had one spare.RESULT Will attempt a third refine using 2 convex lenses and a bag full of P16 to take me up to MC1-6 spear.
Would advise using war god oil on it before though if Dur is low. Hmm risking it after that.

i refined a dur 20/20 puri and a 2/2 coral ring with p22 and p24 black iron.
result.... a dc10-14 puri with duration 18 i tried to refine it again with a 3/3 coral and purity 21, 22, 23, 24 black iron - it broke. i heard that using more decent purity black iron makes up for reduced durability. looks like this was duff info.

I thin kwhat everyone is seeming to forget is that even the right combo doesn't work everytime!!!something like 60% - 40% chance of success so just keep trying
