I dont want any flames, im not here for that. Im here to tell you why i did it.

I did it because i was sad with the current state of MIR, GMs were not giving enough effort ingame, especially seeing as there was only Axen and Cardea who were doing anything, and Axen (Sir Spawnalot) doesnt even speak a word of english. In 24hrs on Wotans account i gave Wotan a good rep as a good, helpful GM. Something that hasnt been seen since Mal left.

After they found out about it, MIR staff deleted my account, and also my mate Pyrotic, who had got involved (against my advice). I told MIR how i got Wotans account (they didnt know) and gave them my source code. In return i asked that Pyrotic and maybe myself were restored. This didnt happen, i suppose i expected it really. I also told MIR some of the things they should do to make MIR better. I got a good perspective in game as to what was needed. They also appear to have thrown all my ideas in the trash can as nobody has replied to me.

Whats happening on MIR at the moment is amazing, events, spawnings, wars, just how a game SHOULD be (though not all the time). This type of thing has not been seen since the beta days and is sorely missed by all.

I appologise to all who will lose items/exp from the rollback, it really is a silly idea, as i didnt seriously affect the game in any way other than spawning a Deer in ZT for Sami, and selling a few D.Rings dropped by a WT to get some money for balad.

I will not quit the game, i love it too much. Sorry about this being a mess, its an awful lot to try and say in just one speech, but i know that aside from the few minor hiccups something good will come out of this.

well done you just proved what we all said ages ago, the gm's dont know jack about anything, they tell us not to give out passwords while they do, they have .......0 protection against this now we have to suffer.

FFS he was the best GM ever in the period he was playing lol

you can blame him all you like, but i dont i blame him, i blame the staff for letting it happen.

Players try to hack online games everyday not just mir but DAOC UO u name it, the simple fact is because the GM's know fuk all, it is possible to do it here.

and before you say that we DID cause alot of damage, the worse that could of happened is that we could of got away with max of 10mil of stuff, which we didnt.

The main problem is how they deal with things. The mir economy is screwed by toobad, balad comes along, exploits *mir's* piss poor security.

He then doesnt screw up the game, the GMs do by forcing this stupid reboot, which is only now necessary after tonights "event".

GMs just never ever listen, i said after malerin was "stolen", why are GMs allowed to summon on Dragon or Phoenix especially player GMs? There is absolutely no need, so why do they have the power to do so, it should be granted by internal staff to player GMs *only* when required, ie. events.

Back in beta i emailed support explaining to them various security risks in their password retrieval system. It was possible to get about 10-20% (my estimate) of users passwords, i managed to get my own, no one elses. They didnt reply although they have since changed it covering all the obvious risks.

Mir security tends to be piss poor.... no doubt his account name, forum name and user id were all wotan.

So what happened was... balad hacked the forums, exploiting mirs poor security, to then get a pass to a GM account, exploiting the GMs poor security.

I ask GMs once again...

1. Why do "player GMs" have the power to summon on dragon? Theres no need. Remove this power and neither of the toobad/balad events would have happened.

2. Why arent GMs given a separate client not available online, required for using a GM account?

3. Why arent GMs restricted to an ip-range, hober said some of the connections were from UK ip ranges rather than Malerins... right well for a start lock it down to her isp.

4. Why arent scripts running on the login database to provide reports of GM logins and a brief action summary, ie. Wotan - logged in at 9:21pm, Wotan - summon 2 ZT @ 9:30pm.

Any one of those things could have prevented this from happening.

GMs should count themselves lucky Balad is a nice guy and didnt screw the game over completely.

Mir security is a joke, their response is a joke, if they read this i just imagine them thinking "ah well weve still got customers" or "oh **** thats an idea but it sounds kinda... technical".

if they gonna rewind to cancel the damage you have done, why don't they do something about the Toobad thing! i really don't understand. Koreans have got all these anti-hack stuff. why cannot they just port that to our client. GMs haven't done **** since start of commercial.

further more, it's aboslutely possible to check every log so that to pinpoint the cheats and cancel them. only a bit troublesome. they choose to rewind only to avoid that trouble. and leave all the trouble to players.

Five days free! great, what about the time i have wasted over the five days lvling. could have made a lot of money over that time. what we got? not even a serious apology.

Who could have given them to us with current drop/spawn rate?

I dont know you Pyro, but ppl here seem to like you so i give you benefit of doubt (for what it worth). but in same way TooBad and co use malerins account for personal gain, so did you. You spawn for your friends, kill stuff (not sure if you intervene on the kill or soawn WT), and sell stuff to give money to your friend.

It might be on a much smaller scale than what TooBad and crew did, but it is the same as what they did. I cant say im happy about it all, you say you do it to show flaw in security, you could have done that in 1 minute by shouting something in MW and taking a SS on Wotans account.

What trash the game is the ppl who were willing to accept items he gave out. The ppl who pick up the stuff Guinty1 dropped, those ppl that complain about the game being scewed by toobad, well some of them gained from it and kept quiet about it.

I thought there should have been an amnesty (sp?) for all the ill gotten items from that TooBad incident. then after amnesty is over the GM do tracking of all logs, then offenders who didnt surreneder the items get deleted.

the same thing should happen here aswell.
