most of mir population are youger players and i hate to think some sick people out there get pleasure from stealing from a child. that is just sick and twisted. remember back to when u were little, how would u like it if u lost something or someone took it, broke it then gave it back. don't think u'd like it much!

gms pls this is happening way too often, i know u r sorting out emails etc... but these people have paid and deserve to get something back for their hard earned cash. pls pls spend a little time on these people or u lose the trust of them and others, and i know ur working on patch at the moment but...this is quite serious :(

surely people arent stupid enough to give out passwords?? and surely ppl arent stupid enough to have the account name the same as the char name???

pls tell me what methods are used... so i know how to better protect myself... i have worked hard for all my items, and worked hard to get to my current lvl... i would NOT like this to happen to me.

if what u say is true about actually "hacking" into LOM (the player database).... surely "hacker" can see all player accounts...

i think this method may be a little un-true.... but im open to sugggestion.. someone prove me wrong

i have no sympathy for ppl who get "hacked"

you type ur name / password in game.. then ur a f00l... i dont care if it's to ur best mate... u dont reveal anything in game... or at any other time for that matter.

As far as trading accounts goes.. no sympathy there either, u dont like ur char.... delete it and start again.

I just find the whole "hacking" thing very odd... as i said b4, if they could see player database, they could see all players, and take whoever they want. So the only other possible method is ppl typing account details in game - tough sh*t

the hacker had left his own details and email on the hacked dids account so we have emailed them to mir. so we hope they ban him and kick him off the forum. mir also know his forum name.

This might be the reason why only some people are hacked, if they truly are. When you sniff you usually take the data that you find the easiest. Alot of data passes over the line. I have heard of low levels being hacked and high levels. It seems random and that is why I think this might be why it seems random.

Are you sure your passwords were sufficiently complex and long? Always have long passwords and preferably make them alphanumerical.

Those guys have a specific personality and the more dangerous it gets the more they will want to do it.

I just think if WeMade encrypted the usernames and passwords that will already help, but they should just use a little encryption, they will really have to go 128bit. I created an encryption that one of my friend, a real hacker, cracked in 30 min with excel. I spent weeks on that encryption.

WeMade do log your IP address at the moment. One easy thing they can do is allow you to switch on a setting that only one IP address to log into the server or for people with a random IP the IP address of the server they dial into.

When people say they have been "hacked" do they mean, "I entered into an agreement with some one else (swapped my charachter) who then failed to hold up his part of the agreement (did not have a charachater to swap with in the first place) then changed all the password details (because I gave them to him) and now I can't get my account back!"?

Or do they mean they were really hacked?

I find it hard to believe that "hackers" hang around mir hacking on-line games instead of trying to hack the federal bank of america or some other exciting location. But I may be wrong!

When you see some one in mir breaking the rules and trying to trade his/her charachter, do us all a favour and PK him/her or even better report him/her to mir staff with a screenie and report them.

I suspect this will then help reduce the amonut of accounts that have been "hacked".

If you feel insecure.. go change you account password right now... go on do it... are u back yet!

I hope they get it sorted out, for me and for you
