I ve just installed win xp professional. And Mir works on it but it crashes every 5 minutes now!
Is this normal and will there be an update for this or is it my problem and should it have too work? Please help because i don t want to install win98 all over again! Edited by - sletti on 12/20/2001 09:09:12

I have XP home edition as well and no probs so far. You might want to try installing mir again to see if that will help.

you'l need to makae sure you have the latest Direct X drivers installed, it may be a case theat your modem is causing the problem and not XP, I had the same problem a while ago and I changed my modem. It has been fine eversince. It was something to do with the V90 aspect.Elite Healer -*EX*- TheUndecided®

I've only ever had Mir running on XP Professional (though I've player briefly on a friend's machine running Win 2K). I've never had the slightest problem with it and never had to do any DirectX updates or anything ... so I suspect the previous answer about the modem may indeed be correct."And then the stars fell, and the heavens were left shrouded in darkness" |

WinXP runs Mir more smoothly than 98 if you can get it running. I have used XP on my laptop and my desktop machine ... and now a few mates who play Mir are using it and none of them have any problems. When you say that it crashes every 5 minutes, did it hang or crash with an error? Have you checked what energy saving, screen saver and suspend options you have set? If any of these are set to 5 minutes it would be worth disabling it and seeing if it solves the problem. At the end of the day, if this doesn't work then have a dual boot machine as XP has sufficient improvents over 98 that it is well worth running it for most everything."And then the stars fell, and the heavens were left shrouded in darkness" |
