Well, Im back to writing my weekly Articles, this week is the newbies and rookies guide, I hope it helps you out =)
The Legend of Mir - Newbies and Rookies guide
Finally,After downloading 210 megs of hardcore RPG action, You're ready to play. The Flame jump up from the candles, as the door opens. Welcome to the World of Mir.
The World of Mir is MASSIVE, And I do mean MASSIVE,But right now, We're nothing but small-timer's, making our way by herding animals and selling their meat.
First,We must select a character
Each Character is perfectly Valid, and has their own advantages and disadvantages
Warrior: I found This class the easiest to use. The Warrior is strong, and can learn 2 very good unique skills, Fencing and Slaying. The Warriors Health is Excellent, at about Level 8 and 9,You'll be using Medium Sized potions,Which is good progress. The Warrior's Strength and Accuracy are his main advantages, and they can be improved on very much through Fencing And Slaying. Fencing,Which improves accuracy begins at Level 7, Really should be learned. Second Step is taken on Level 11, and the Third and Final step is taken on Level 16. Slaying is a very good skill to have, Besides impressing everybody in your vicinity, It also puts your strength sky high. I reccomend this class for starting off.
Advantages:
- Can take a lot of hits before falling
- Strength can become extremly high
- Accuracy can become extremly high
Disadvantages:
- No Magic
Taoist: The most popular class. Whenever A group are going into a dungeon or cave, they always have a Taoist with them, As Taoist Are the more "White Magic" Class. The Taoist can Learn one of the most important spells in the game , Healing at level 7, The Second step can be taken at level 11 and the third and final step at level 16. I found this class a bit difficult for starting off with, as its even possible to be killed by deer by the small HP points. If you and a Warrior are at Level 5, you could easily be killed for your goods, although thankfully, there is a mainly good atmosphere in Mir. This Class starts off slighly difficult, but will become much easier as you advance levels. This is a very good class, and isnt being overlooked. You can Learn many spells, Including my personal favorite, A summon, Which creates a bone fighter. This is a bit of a difficult class for starting off with, but becomes one of the most useful characters in the game.
Advantages:
- Can Help out yourself and other players with certain spells (Heal, ect)
- Can use a lot of magic before needing to rengerate
- You can charge people for bringing a high lv taoist to the dangerous places ;)
Disadvantages:
- Can be quite hard in the starting levels
- No offensive magic until later levels
- must make poison from items and buy amulets
Wizard: My personal favorite. Wizards have BIG advantages in a lot of places, as many enemy's cannot use long rages attacks. Once the Wizard reaches Lv7,S/He may begin their Fireball training, Then they can retreat to a safe distance, and kill dangerous foes whom may destroy Warriors and Taoists much easier. Wizards have DIRE starts, I've even had my HP reduced to 3 by herding sheep at the begining! Their Strength, Accuracy and Health points are very bad..In fact, At Lv9 and Lv10+,Most Wizards still use Small Potions, Which Warriors would only use up to Lv7 or so,But Wizards buy Medium potions for Magic Points, as you have about 100 near Lv11. The Wizard's Initial training begins at Lv7 with Fireball,Second step is taken at Lv11 and the final step at Lv16. There is a wide range of spells to learn, Some which are rare,Such as ThunderStorm, damages all enemys in your area..But is extremly Rare. In fact,I've only ever seen it used once. The Wizard really is an excellent class, and should not be overlooked by its small Health Points.Advantages:
- Can Attack real strong enemys without getting hit so much as once!
- Can Improve your skills and Travel to dangerous Caves and Temples Alone
- Can use a lot of magic before needing to renergate
- Can light up the area with certain magic (But I'd still recommend candles)
Disadvantages:
- Can be quite hard in the starting levels
- Low Accuracy, Strength and Health
- If you hit meat with a magic,Its Quality becomes nil :)
As you see, They all have their Disadvantages and advantages. Now,Its time to Earn some EXP.
I found it easy to advance to at least Level 4 on your first day, Although I gained to Level 11.
The best way to get Exp in the Early stages is different for all characters.
I recommend all classes focus on Deer and Hen's until Level 2 or 3. Although the Wizard and Taoist should stay focused on them, Warriors may find it better to attack Oma's, Which are worth 25Exp, Which is 10 more then deer (15exp) and 20 more then hens (5exp), both of these can be herded for meat. Deer Meat is usually worth about 80gold , Wheras Chicken is worth considerably less, at 35gold. You may want to continue Herding Animals, Even at higher Levels.
Now, I've said this again and again to rookies and newbies. DONT and once again, DONT try and make your way through the forest ALONE at low levels. It is extremly dangerous if you dont know what your doing, As the forest is filled with Canibal Plants, Forest Yeti's, Oma's and Scarecrows. Scarecrows are very weak enemy's,and are easy to kill even with the wizard, But Oma's can Easily kill off Wizards and Taoists, But the Warrior at Lv2 or 3 may have more of a chance. Cannibal plants WILL kill you Easily at low levels. Belive me,Its happened a lot. Most people look at cannibal plants and think they're easier to beat then Oma's. Forest yeti's are a big threath to rookie's, as his attack is quite strong, yet he moves slower then most enemy's. Forest Yeti's carry 30exp,And although to a rookie this is good, by the time you can beat it, 30Exp will be nothing.
Once you train up to lv9 or so,its time to take on some more dangerous challenges, such as the dead mine. Many people go here to mine for ore,and to earn a fortune, the zombies there give a very handsome 160exp, and can drop about 200gold, and zombies at the lower levels (which are much more difficult) have been proven to RARELY drop some of the most fought after spell books, such as hellfire. Wizards at Lv11 may find these zombies far more easier then Warriors or taoists at Lv11, as wizards can use the "hit and run" technique, and advoid losing any health.
Some people may not be up for Zombies at this stage, so you may want to Level up in the Oma Caves, They're dropping items for around lv12, Skeletons give 85-100exp, and arent too tough, and unlike zombies, they dont come back to life.
Before we continue on Leveling up, Lets go over the stats
A lot of newcomers are "whats DC whats AC" ect, so Im gunna tell ya
Dura - Durability
AC - Armour (physical) Class
AMC - Armour (Magic) Class
DC - Damage (physical) Class
MC - Magic Class
SC - Soul Class
Inten
Luck
Curse
Acc
Agil
Dura is the amount of time a weapon will last until it breaks, But by simply repairing your weapon on an average basis will prevent the weapon from breaking. Normal repair makes the dura go down every repair.
AC is your Physical Armour Class, meaning that the higher your AC, the lower damage attacks from weapons do.
AMC or more formaly MAC is your Magical Armour Class, Meaning that the higher your MAC, the lower damage magic attacks will do.
DC - your Physical Damage Class, the higher your DC, the more damage attacks from Weapons will do.
MC - your Magic Class - only WIZARDS should equip accesory's with MC, this increases the Wizards Magic Power, meaning the higher the MC, the more effective a Wizard's magic will be
SC - Soul Class, only TAOISTS should equip accesory's with SC, this increases the Taoist's Soul power, meaning the higher the SC, the more effective a Taoist's magic will be.
Inten - The higher this stat, the faster a weapon will hit. +1 hits 10% faster, +5 hits 50% faster ect
Luck - The higher this stat, the more chance there is of a weapon doing max damage. +1 = 10% extra chance, +5 = 50% extra chance ect
Curse - the higher this stat, the more chance there is of a weapon doing minimum damage. +1 = 10% extra chance, +5 = 50% extra chance ect... Curse can only be obtained after you PK with that weapon
Acc - The higher this stat, the higher your accuracy, meaning weapons will hit the target at an increased chance, +1 = 10% more accuracy, +5 = 50% more accuracy ect
Agil - The higher this stat, the higher your chance of dodging attacks, +1 = 10% chance of advoiding attack, +5 = 50% chance of advoiding attack ect
Now, back to our leveling up..
Wooma is getting tougher by the day, but the first floor is ideal for leveling up at lv13 or so, It isnt very tough seeing as there are no Wooma's on the first floor, the exp is alright for the lower levels too.
At lv16 you should be on the 2nd floor in wooma or hunting zombies in the mines, Wooma's give decent exp, are in good numbers and sometimes drop a few items wheras zombies give 160exp, are in huge numbers in some places, and can sometimes give Mass Drops, where tons of items are dropped by the zombie
At lv18 you may be getting tired of lv'ing up, I was, But remember, keep up the attacking, and someday you'll be in Zuma, perhaps with a guild your rule.
Thats about all the advice I can give you newbies, just remember to watch out for PK'ers, and stay safe =)
mmmm my pizza's ready *runs*
