I quit playing about a month ago and havent looked back since. I was curious to know what makes people still want to play this game when there are better professional games that have support and giant worlds compared to this one? I found it hard to leave on my part because of the amount of time I put in getting my character to lvl 31 and 95% but as the game is based around items I found once I gave my items away I didnt wanna come back at all. All the time I spent lvling wasnt fun, it seemed like it was worthwhile at the time but now I have sampled other games where there are mobs for your lvl and rewards to actually lvling I could never consider going back. Also issues like security pking etc are not an issue in other games as they have taken time to make sure these are not a problem yet after all this time mir hasnt changed and now u all know that there is another 6 months of this nothingness that is the current state of mir, with a community constantly decreasing and no new players coming (any that do leave quick thanks to pking and noone wanting to waste valuable lvling time associated with having to explain things to a newbie < I know this for fact, of course there are exceptions). It leads me to wonder why do u continue to give your mopney to these people. I can honestly say in my opinion that the game is dying and that no matter how hard you hope, it will continue to do so. Maybe in a year or two it might be worth trying again (By which time other games with professional teams will have produced better games). Of course this topic is just begging to be flamed, but for those not interested in flaming can u let me know what you think?Deep down I am a really shallow person :) Edited by - Forbitz on 01/09/2002 13:49:20 |

I doubt Mir will die, due to the fact that no matter how people say they "hate" it, and all the bad-mouthing they give the staff.. we all (excpet u :P) still play the game, even if it is soley to talk to m8s. Take me for example, now i play [game name censored], i have started to play less. But I still get excited when i hear a boss nearby, I still love to chat and hunt with my m8s, still wishing on those mass drops etc.. For all of Mir's failings, it still is an excellent game, which over 2000 peole have paid 4, u being one of them :P As for hacking etc.. all we have now are kids who's only skill is to download scripts and use em (ScriptKiddies i heard someone say). However i feel that with better security this problem will be lessened (lol duhhh :P) but not stopped. Real hackers will still be able to get in and mess around. GM support atm is useless (unless someone hacks an account and then uses it, but even then they acutally HELP us with what they know) and I hope that this is addressed asap aswell as the email support. I agree with you totally.Took a break from LOM. to play censored game (DAOC) what a difference. Played 2 weeks now and already 2 small updates. Just come back to forum every now and again to see if things are getting better. (NOPE) To bad my account is paid until April. Better to waste my money then to waste my time :)

To be perfectly honest i really dont want to stop play mir as i still enjoy it and level @ a reasonable rate with my mage. however with the lack respectt Mir staff shows it paying customers is on the verge of making me leave.Taoist of the 27th level

I play the game because I really enjoy it. If you don't enjoy it then naturally you won't play. Why though do you insist on coming back to these forums and why do you insist on posting messages telling us that it is dead and not fun any more. Manners cost nothing..........If you would kindly check and please let me know where I am continually insisting on posting crap, as I think I have only ever started 3 maybe 4 threads in 6 months of being here. This is my first post apart from pointing someone to thier friends location in a month. Why I post on here as I have a lot of friends who still play this thing. Also I never said it was not fun anymore (if I did quote it to me pls) also dont remember saying the game was dead either. As for wasting forum space have u checked lately? There is only a few threads in the last 4 months that arent complaints of some sort. I am not actually complaing it was a reasonable question. Deep down I am a really shallow person :) |

He is right you know.. not just you but all the rest who enjoy walking round mir and coming in here just to slag the game off. If you don't like it then move on! If, like you said, you have moved on, why are you here? Is sounds to me like you still want to be in Mir.. Or is it that you care so much about the 7 squid a month (or however much we are paying) we all are paying? Being on this board doeant mean you want to come back, I left the game almost a month ago and the only time I have logged in since then was to PK someone in MW cuz I could see him there from one of my friend's computer. And leave Forbitz alone, sure you are all big enough to make your own decisions but if there was something wrong with advertising other games or telling you how crap this game is then why dont you also complain to a company that throws leaflets under your door? or when there is commercials you dont care about on the telly? The thread is clearly against MIR, if you LOVE MIR so much then why the hell do you read the thread?

I hope you notice I did not advertise any other games here either. I was trying to make this a non flame post. By that guys lvl I know he is still in the stage where lvling is fairly easy (lvl 26-29 is still fairly easy). I was talking about the ppl lvl 30+ who have no new mobs to fight or anything to look foward to for the next 6-7 months if its on time. Surely logging in at night to walk around bug cave again for 1-2% in 3-4 hours can't be appealing? for what? maybe a new spell in 3-4 lvls? or even worse no new spells if ur lvl 35 just lvl 2 of a spell in maybe 3 lvls (or 2-3 months roughly speaking).
sigh let the flames continue.... All I wanted to know after all ive stated here so far, which you all already know yourself (do a /who now and do one again exact same time in 2 weeks and u can see the numbers dropping all the time) is how can u expect the game to go on as the number of ppl playing constantly goes down? Your right, politeness costs nothing, a rule I generally live by. OK lets start again. I play the game because I enjoy it. I enjoy it despite its faults. Yes it has faults and without them it would be even more enjoyable. Yes I am low level and yes its been easy up till now and I expect it to get harder but that should be a good thing because to be honest it hasn't exactly been a challenge so far. At the moment I feel that I wouldn't be bored until I have everything there is to have and NOBODY can claim to have reached that level. Maybe when I get into the 30's my opinion will change but at the moment thats how it is and thats why I play. I am currently sat at work thinking about getting home and logging on and what I'm going to do. That to me is worth paying for. When I stop doing that I will stop playing and leave quitely.
As for other games, I am grateful to anyone who submits a post to inform me of (in there opinion) a better game and I try them all out (currently trying DAOC) but I dont want people TELLING me that this game is sh1te and XXXX is much better. B4 u get excited I am not claiming that is what you did but others have/do.
If you want to nit pick, nowhere in my first post did I claim that you continually post. But I'm not here to argue, I'm here to give my opinion just as you gave yours.

HEHE np m8, I used to be a wiz though ^.^ so not much need for dragonslayer :P I also had just about all the items I wanted (be careful of getting what u want, double edged sword), so I guess that sped up my exit.Deep down I am a really shallow person :) |
