<rant mode='on'>Here we are playing a game that is essentially all about community, and helping each other out. Can we at least agree on that point before I continue? if not I wouldnt even bother reading the rest. There has been alot of publicity recently about "sense of cummunity" in MIR, alot of publicity about PKing "noobs". I personally thing one of the things that is causing the rift is the guilds on MIR, and before you start to think "ahh its a moan thread about the amount of guilds" it isnt (that point is covered later). Why are the major guilds in MIR so elitest, i.e. you can only join if you are lvl 30+, lvl 25+ etc - there are a hell of alot of people that want to be part of a guild that cant simply because of the elitest nature of the current major guilds. There are hundreds of posts on this forums that say "I help noobs", "I dont pk noobs" blah blah blah, how many of these people are part of a guild that would actually allow that same "noob" to join them, isnt that double standards?? It seems hipocrytical of the guild leaders and members, nobody started this game at lvl 25 everybody was once lvl 1, everybody had to ask where the Bug Cave was, everybody has asked at some point what is the best item for them to wear, everybody has asked questions, so why do you consider the lower levels to be second class citizens?? People have been moaning recently about the fact that their are too many guilds, well what I have described above is IMHO one of the major causes of this, becuase if you get turned down but still want the advanatges of being in a guild then you have to form your own, and if that means stealing a WT horn then fair enough. So what I say is Guilds open yourselves up to the lower levels, these people will one day be "a high level" these people might one day save your a$$ from a Super Guardian whilst on a raid, these people may actually proove beneficial to the guild. All you lvl 30 super rich guild leaders would it really put a big hole in your pocket to buy a Platin Necklace for a low lvl Wizard?? At the end of the day, you know this makes sense, unless you want to stay in your small elitest world and ultimatly loose out. <rant mode='off'> And before anybody says it, I dont have a chip on my shoulder cause I got turned down for a guild. I am perfectly happy where I am And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name Mampang when I lay my vengeance upon thee. |

nah u wont get flamed, and i kinda agree wit the double standards part, but not totallyim a guild leader myself, and know what your saying. i have let lower lvs in before but nobody wants to be in a guild thats full of people complaining about lack of gold or asking for help lving up. ppl want guilds that will help them when they need, not force them to help others. i have let lower lvs in before, and i do my best to level them up personally. i usually dont like letting ppls 2nd chars in nomatter what theyre level. bascially nobody wants to be in a guild if they wont benefit, and everybody is in it for themselves these days (i know its sad). i personally want to be able to be fighting for sabuk one day, but iv gotta strike a fine balance between being a n00b guild, or being a stronger guild that lets newer players in. i like the atmosphere of a good guild, thats most important, so im happy for more recruits hope that made sense, good luk to u Disley - lv 24 wiz {Eternal Guildleader} morad - lv12 tao Disley - lv16 war {Phoenix} I was under medication when i made the decision to burn the tapes |

Nah mampang no flames...(why flame someone who speaks their mind in a fair manner?). But I do have a couple of points. First of all until level 22+ you don't really want to be joining a Guild. Enjoy the game first...be a merc...hunt in groups...hunt on your own. It's a bit like youth, enjoy it when ya can. Ya see I'm big on loyalty. When you choose a Guild you choose wisely and YOU STICK TO THAT GUILD. This takes time you need to associate with various members, look at their websites etc. However, you do have a point...there are some low level players who have been playing a while, or second chars even. When I was at ND we actually had a sub-guild running for a while for people between 13-22. This was so that they had Guild support militarily and on occassion financially...but they had to sort themselves out. It was no good taking a level 15 war for a ZT hunt was it? So we had a level 17 guy in charge and we left him to it. Maybe other guilds could have similar "nursery" guilds. Looking after promising young players so that when they reach lvl 22 or 25 or whatever they will stick to that Guild. CEGGY Reflect Your Own Personality |

tetrodotoxin guild was brought by DeathRow for exactly that reason. we hope to help lvl up promising players to later if they want to join DeathRow and who knows maybe fight with DeathRow for Sabuk one day. We have had n00b chars last longer in st 7th than lvl 30's it's not your lvl that matters. it's whether u have common sensejova lvl 27 Tao GUILD LEADERTETRODOTOXIN |

Not far off lvl 30 (Wizard) quote:
but nobody wants to be in a guild thats full of people complaining about lack of gold or asking for help lving up
In a round about sort of way isnt that what people at any level do? quote:

IMHO Noobiness is a state of mind not a state of level, there are a few people lvl 30+ that I would say deserver the noob title more than alot of lvl 12 ppl out there. quote:

if sub lvl 22 you want to level fairly quickly you need to grp and goto say Wooma, I remember the early days of MIR, you could stand in Bichon Wall and shout - Group hunt at wooma - meet at bookstore - and there would be loads of people there. That simply doesnt happen anymore so you are forced to hunt solo & slowly until lvl 22. The lowers lvls in a guild would (and should be guided to) form their own little "click" and they can go hunt together, build up trust between themselves and inturn likely to become more loyal to the guild they are in (reason: All you mates, cos you have hunted with them since dot, are in the same guild, so you are less likely to leave) But then again I am just as bad as everybody I am moaning about, I have maintained Digital Devils since Nomad left (but thats an entirely different story) - admitedly we did have a min entry lvl simply becuase people in the guild were more concerned about image and didnt want to be know as a "noob guild" - although I did finally get my way and drop the entry level (again thats an entirely different story) - But for reasons beyond this game, and nothing to do with the content of this thread, I have stood down from DD. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name Mampang when I lay my vengeance upon thee. It all comes down to the fact that there is variation, you cant make a sweeping statement about all the people all the noobs and all the guilds. There are very good guilds in mir which specifically join low levels, help them level up and then they stay with them. Some people find that enjoyable. Some guilds are level 25+, some even higher, these are elitest guilds making groups of high level tough players capable of holding their group and gaining satisfaction through power. Other guilds are groups of friends, friends only, no outsiders, generally up for having a laugh, not so bothered about level or items or status as the elitest guilds. Its been said a million times, some people wont be happy unless their guild owns sabuk, kills ZT regulary and everyone lives in fear of being on their KOS. Others dont have a KOS, play for a laugh and are happy to be mid-levels having fun struggling enjoying the challenge. Theres far more examples of what people look for in a guild than this, but its just an illustration. Noobs do tend to get themselves in trouble and be hard to protect as they do need it. TIC allow peoples 2nd chars to join, kinda useful for keeping in touch with the guild while levelling. It also doesnt take long to level up high enough to get into a guild. *flame* *flame* *flame* *flame* *flame* *flame* *flame* *flame*

Agreed, but at the eend of the day I was in a guild that did let in the new players, we went to crack the ST maze, 20 of us, about 5/6 n00bs. who started off by running to grab a small gold drop, about 150-200 and then lured about 20-30 Black boars and BBM`s and Black Maggots and got most of the raiders killed. Now if the person im with doesnt listen, simple i do not hunt with them, but As i have proved many times with my friends "Mampang", Das, Excaliblur, Mithral who i have helped lvl from day 1, the n00bness of the person is not just there ingame lvl but there overall attitude and i think that counts a lot more than just there lvl. If I have said or done anything to offend you, then you probably deserved it...

TheUndecided is now just the m8s left over from HeavensGuardians.. which weren't just the highest lvls, just the ppl that didn't really care about owning sabuk and gaining the best items.. We're all just having a good laugh at things .. For example when Robbert and Thalassean were stuck on 7f zuma without a DE some of us launched rescue missions which were great fun. We ended up storming through the maze with 3 ppl just to discover they had gotten DE's from some other guild there :D It was completely pointless but fun anyway.. These are the things that make mir great : the ppl! not the items, not the lvls, this is what some ppl seem to forget sometimes. We don't accept new members unless they are really close friends of the current members or someones n00b character (Robberrt for instance, the n00b :D ). Most ppl I meet are nice and everybody says "thx" or "ta" when I come along and BA all the warriors in BC :D Thanatlos - lvl 3 HealthPot - Member of TheUndecided® |
